Antimicrobial paper developed by a university with the support of one of the worldwide leading paper firms. The present invention is based on the addition of copper particles to cellulose paper. The resulting product has antibacterial, biodegradable and flexible properties while maintaining all the attributes of the conventional paper. Cu-paper is an innovative product in a growing market. Moreover, there are no direct competitors in the field of copper paper with antimicrobial capabilities. The Cu-paper has been proven to possess antimicrobial properties against a range of bacteria. A methodology to integrate the copper particles to the cellulosic material has been tested achieving positive bonding results.
